SHOUT grew out of a desire to celebrate and promote the diversity of Birmingham’s LGBT cultural community. A project of Birmingham LGBT, SHOUT began using the festival model alongside other initiatives as a focal point to present regional queer cultural activities, develop locally-emerging talent and showcase these in addition to critically acclaimed national and international programming.
Since its inception SHOUT has:
Engaged with audiences of 280,000+ // Programmed 145 events
Held 85 live performances // Showcased 44 community-led events
Worked with 330+ artists // Collaborated with 30 venues & cultural organisations // Presented 56 films
SHOUT remains ambitious and has gone from strength to strength over. In 2016 we grew and evolved again and were delighted to be working with such a diverse and exciting team of artists and partner venues. We look forward to continuing to grow in the future, ensuring that we champion queer work and queer narratives across the midlands.
