SHOUT are delighted to announce the 2016 Festival line-up.
“We are proud to present this year’s festival programme of performing and visual arts which not only celebrates queer identities and experiences but also directly responds to the ever changing world around us. SHOUT remains a place to celebrate diversity, push boundaries, challenge views and provide a platform for the voices and experiences of queer and LGBT people in Birmingham”
Adam Carver, Festival Development Officer
We have grown and evolved again this year and are delighted to be working with such a diverse and exciting programme of both established and upcoming artists, building on our existing partnerships, and welcoming new partners and venues to the festival.
The Festival launches on November 10th with the outrageous, and internationally acclaimed Miss Behave’s Gameshow, a renegade gameshow for the austerity generation. Direct from London’s Wonderground and hosted by star of Olivier award winning smash hits La Clique and La Soiree Miss Behave (and her glamourous assistant) bring their smash-hit production for their Midlands premiere at SHOUT.
A 10 day festival follows offering the best in live performance, theatre, music, comedy, cabaret, visual arts, talks, film, workshops, and events at some of the city’s most prominent arts venues.
The Festival will close on November 20th, Trans Day of Remembrance, with the return of our free and ever popular community event SHOUT OUT at mac Birmingham which will include performances and activities throughout the day as well as a memorial to mark Trans Day of Rememberance. The closing performance of the festival will be the award winning five-star Big Girl’s Blouse, and will take place that evening at mac Birmingham. Seen earlier this year at London’s Soho Theatre, Big Girl’s Blouse explores what being transgender was like in the 1970s and sees Kate make a song and dance about her life using humour, music, and costume to tell her story.
Tickets are onsale now, and don't forget we'll be announcing more events in the run up to the festival on our wesite, social media channels, and through out mailing list. We look forward to welcoming you to this year's SHOUT.
