SHOUT 18: West Midlands Queer Artists Call Out

SHOUT 18: West Midlands Queer Artists Call Out
posted 20 Aug 2018

We are proud and excited to be able to support the amazing talent of queer artists in and from the midlands. We want to make sure that regional queer artists are supported and given opportunity to develop their practice and create work, and in doing so pllatform midland voices and perspectives both locally and nationally. Our aim is to provide more opportunity for queer artists in the region, and to help those artists build their skills, develop their practices, and increase the city's queer cultural offer.

In addition to our upcoming festival programme (to be announced later this year), SHOUT is delighted to announce two fantastic new opportunities for queer identifying artists in the West Midlands for our 2018 festival.

QUEER & NOW: NEW PERFORMANCE SCRATCH NIGHT
DEADLINE 24TH SEPTEMBER - MIDDAY

In a brand new partnership with Birmingham REP, SHOUT Festival 2018 will include QUEER & NOW, a scratch night of new queer performance work from artists working in the West Midlands. We are looking to meet new artists, develop new ideas, and support new performance work from emerging regional artists working in performance (theatre, cabaret, dance, comedy, spoken-word, music etc.).

Successful artists will be given a 10 minute performance slot as part of an evening of performance in The Door, at Birminngham REP and £150 to cover the cost of materials and expenses, as well as mentoring, performance feedback and documentation. For a full brief and an application form click here.

SHOUT 2018 VISUAL ARTIST/DESIGNER COMMISSION
DEADLINE 24TH SEPTEMBER - MIDDAY

We are looking to commission a West-Midlands based visual artist(s)/designer to create an original design for SHOUT 2018, this design will be printed onto totes and t-shirts which will be used by staff and volunteers during the festival and available to audiences to purchase.

The successful candidate will receive a commission fee of £400, for a full brief and application form click here.
