Angela and Luchia have spent the last half a century fighting for their rights— and yours. They revolutionised the lives of thousands of women and yet no record of them exists. Theirs is a story that risks disappearing from history. Until now.
Invisible Women is a new documentary film that tells the incredible story of these two pioneers, from running out on a lobotomy to starting the Gay Liberation Front in the north, from rocking with the Northern Women’s Rock Liberation Band to taking on Margaret Thatcher and Section 28—these women have fought and are still fighting today. This is their story told for the first time.
SHOUT are delighted to welcome the film-maker Alice Smith, producer Joe Ingham, and the ‘Invisible Women’ Angela & Luchia to Birmingham for a post screening discussion. Join us from 6pm for an exclusive chance to look around BMAG’s exhibition Women Power Protest, marking 100 years since the first women won the right to vote in the UK, before the screening begins.
This event is supported by Film Hub Midlands.
Free event, booking essential.
18:00 - exhibition viewing, 19:30 - film screening.
