Cover Up Quilt Making Workshop

Saturday 12 November

2pm – 5pm

Café at Birmingham LGBT Centre

FREE

Help to make a community quilt for Birmingham’s new AIDS and HIV Memorial.  The quilt will form part of the unveiling of Birmingham’s HIV and AIDS memorial in Hippodrome Square, on World Aids Day, 1 December 2022.

Inspired by the historic AIDS memorial quilt made by hundreds of thousands of volunteers in the 1980s, community groups across the city are making 40 panels representing significant moments since the first diagnosis of AIDS in 1981.

Join artist Jane McGeown to make one of the 40 panels for the quilt, which will also be exhibited at locations including the Library of Birmingham, Birmingham Rep and Symphony Hall.
