Drag Declares Emergency: Eco Drag Workshop with Lady Kitt
Wednesday 9th November
Workshop 6pm – 8pm, social drop-in 8pm – 9pm
Café at Birmingham LGBT Centre
Free (£5.00 refundable deposit to secure your place)
How can the lgbtqia+ community use our contemporary & historic queer crafting skills to respond to the climate emergency?
Artist and drag king Lady Kitt invites you to join them for this fun creative workshop, crafting fabulous drag outfits by reusing common household rubbish! Kitt will share some of the crafting techniques they have developed. You can also experiment with your own ideas, share skills and chat about developing a drag character through planet-kind drag crafts (drag costume, wig & prop making using recycled, natural and low environmental impact materials and processes). Bring an item of clothing or a prop like a hat, wig or a pair of shoes to alter or transform, preferably existing or second hand rather than new. Afterwards between 8 & 9pm everyone is invited to stay on/drop-in to socialise with refreshments, meet the artist and make a flower to take home. Facilitated by Craftspace.
